Saw cut control joints using the Soff-Cut System. Cut as soon as the slab will support the weight of the saw and operator, without disturbing the final finish, normally from 0 to 2 hours after final finish at each control joint. Replace the Soff-Cut Skid Plate with each new Soff-Cut blade to avoid spalling and raveling.

Use Soff-Cut joint protectors at saw-cut intersections prior to cross-cutting in order to prevent the corners from breaking down.

If ambient temperature allows, cutting may begin before the curing application to control shrinkage stress. Remove dry powder by vacuum or light sweep and follow specified cure procedures. Protect the edge of cuts if using wheeled equipment within the first 24 hours.

Cold weather concrete placements may extend the initial start of control joint installation. To ensure desired performance, test cut 2 to 8 lineal feet (1.22 meters to 1.83 meters) at proper depth. If desired results are achieved, continue to complete balance of cuts at control joint locations.

It is very important to always change the anti-ravel Skid Plate with each new Soff-Cut blade or chipping and spalling of the joint will result. The spacing between the blade and Skid Plate becomes greater as the blade cuts the concrete. Use only Soff-Cut products to ensure proper performance.
